3. Munduk waterfalls (early afternoon, another 45 minutes further into the hills) — several falls in the area (Munduk Falls itself, plus a few less-visited ones nearby) with short forest walks to reach them.

What to plan for

• Elevation changes mean temperature drops noticeably as you climb toward Bedugul and Munduk — pack a light layer even in dry season.
• Winding mountain roads in the Munduk area are narrower and slower than the coastal routes — build in more drive time than the map estimate suggests.
• Return timing — heading back toward the south in the late afternoon can mean hitting Denpasar-area traffic; leaving Munduk by mid-afternoon avoids the worst of it.
